Hawaiian Luau

Aloha and welcome to Chloe Ann's Hawaiian Luau 3rd Birthday Bash! For this event, Chloe's mommy, who is originally from Hawaii wanted a very classic, almost vintage island-inspired look for the party. During one of my shopping trips, I came across a beautiful island print fabric which became the inspiration for the entire party decor. I wanted the party to have a very natural and relaxed feel to it, but with an elegant touch of course =) I think everything turned out beautifully! Here are some photos from the event...

I had my sweet hubby cut several leaves from our Bird of Paradise and palm trees from our backyard to make this arrangement. I couldn't allow myself to cut anything off my real Plumeria tree (it's so hard to grow in Southern California), so instead of using the real thing, I found this lovely silk Plumeria branch at Michael's (for only $7.99) and to my delight, everyone thought it was real! Filled the bottom of the glass vase (also from Michael's $11.99) with tiny river rocks, added a natural sinamay ribbon and some fresh orchids to finish off the look.

Freshly cut palm leaves and palm leaf print paper lanterns added to the island feel of the party.

I found these adorable matching outfits from Motu Hawaii, a local Hawaiian shop. If you're in the Pacific Beach/Mission Bay area, you've gotta stop by and check them out...they carry a lot of authentic items (www.motuhawaii.com)

I found this gorgeous island print fabric at Walmart ($5 per yard, you'll need about 3 yards for a 6ft. long table) and made it into a beautiful overlay for the guest tables.

The best centerpieces are the ones that you can eat! =) Centerpiece consist of fresh pineapples, mangos, coconuts and bananas and centered beautifully between two tabletop tiki torches.

Fresh Plumeria and Hibiscus blooms adorns the gorgeous birthday cake.

Island-inspired goodies: chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies, chocolate covered macaroons, fried sweet plantain chips and bite size taro filled sesame balls.

Straw hats, hibiscus hair clips and tropical leis for the guests.

Custom water bottles (the adorable hula girl clip art reminded me of the sweet birthday girl)

A surprise hula performance for the guests to enjoy...

The adorable birthday girl, Chloe Ann =)
